The black sea bass regulations have not been updated on their website as of this post which shows a June 4 opening but Capt TB who is a member of the council wrote.
"On May 5th the NJ Marine Fisheries Council met and voted in favor of Option 2 which consists of a season from May 28th through September 11th and November 1st through December 31st. The bag limit will remain at 25 fish and the size limit will stay at 12.5 inches.
Since this still has to go through the administrative process of being implemented (it is approved, the council has the final say on all NJ regs except Striped bass) it has not been published on the NJDF&W website but that is what was approved at the meeting in Galloway Township last week.
The June 4th date was a result of a council action back on April 7th in anticipation of changes in Sea Bass regs and a desire by the Division to give them ample time to implement whatever those changes may be. Since a Memorial Day Weekend opening was available as an option, the council and the public agreed that was the most desirable and the Division will simply have to implement it!"
