Well went out to the 60 ft slough in the deleware bay on Saturday figuring we would try to get an early season striper but as it turned out the water was way to hot and the fish are not there yet. At first we were alittle concerned about the forcast but man did they miss that one we were in 1 to 2 ft seas all day. Anyway back to the story....We dropped anchor in about 5o ft of water at slack high and proceded to start chunking. For the first 1/2 hr or so nothing but then out of the blue a real starts to sound slightly well the man on that rod procedes to cross the fishes eyes and his rod doubled over (Literally) after about a 20 minute fight we started to see leader but still not seeing this "FISH" it makes a little run for the deep again then five minutes later as we are peering over the side of the boat up came this set of jaws that could have swallowed me....LOL....It ended up being a 7 to 8ft 200 to 250 lb SAND TIGER....Man he / she had some nasty teeth on it....LOL any way the amazing part is we were using 7/0 hooks with 40 lb fluro carbon and he did not cut through it......Well we had 2 more BIG FISH on that cut the leaders so we decided to give the rips a try and came across some bird play which turned out to be all of the 2 to 3 lb blues you could want....All I can say is come on colder temps. We will be giving it a shot next Sunday again we will let you know the results...UNTIL THEN

Hey Paulie Walnuts,

I went out Sunday in the bay with the same hopes... Guess what I caught??? You got it.... blues and croakers :!:

I would a been a happy boy if I at least nailed 1 keeper weakie, but the blues wouldn't have it... They tore my gear and bait up as soon as it hit the water...

Man I wish you guys had a camera of that Sand Tiger... They are a treasure of the Delaware Bay... Glad you hooked into one, I have not been lucky enough yet... Of course they are protected and I know you let her swim free... Nice report

Folks, unlike other message boards...we do have a 95 page website in conjuntion with this one and thefishingline.com is where we prefer to post all fishing reports.

Please send them to rjohnson@thefishingline.com and I will post them on the NJ report area which we are trying to build up to the same standards and accuracy we already have for the NY side. Thanks:)

Paul,

You first made me aware of this board through an email, then after all the *** stuff Mr. RJ reminded me about this site.

I should be out on Sunday also...
