I have twim merc 225 EFIs. When both engines are our of gear I can get max. rpms. When in gear I can only get 2200/2500 rpm on both engines. I think iot could be a sensor but no alarms. Any body have any ideas ?

First, never run the motors above 1500 rpm out of gear, a runaway motor is not pretty. Second, both motors dropping rpm at the same time means a common problem. What do they share? Fuel, power, anything else? My best guess without knowing history is fuel restriction. If you don't have a factory manual, I recommend if you are gonna troubleshoot on your own. If you like , PM me and I can point you to some excellent merc people on the web for some free advice. Be prepared to give explicit history and symptoms. You can start with fuel tank pickup screens, fuel/water separators, primer bulbs. Check all fuel connections. A leak before the motors will suck air and cause low WOT rpms.
Good luck

ClamIam, Angus63,
Thanks for the info. I've also heard that E-10 is eating away at fuel line inner linning and causing problems. I'll let you know the outcome.

Not sure about Mercs, but OMC has stated for their motors since 1994 they are designed to run on up to 10% ethanol. As far as fuel lines from tank to motors, there are a zillion types and best bet is to replace with E-10 compatable before the bleeding begins. Good luck...
