Look out for "Colossal Squid" just found in Sub-Antarctic Sea (how is this for a fishing report). It weighed in at 330 lbs., can potentially grow to 2000 lbs. and is only the second specimen of its kind ever found! Its said to have eyes the size of dinner plates and scores of razor sharp hooks which are used to snag its prey. This squid was caught by fisherman (no GPS, tide, moon cycle, water temp, structure or tackle information provided... but what a cure for cabin fever) :} It was feeding on a Patagonian Toothfish measuring over 2 meters long, in and of itself! So much for mythical sea monsters... as described in Capt. Nemos adventures ... "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea". I wonder where these fisherman tell their tales & down their share of "Forster's" This is a true story... and I think it would make for an excellent video! I can see it now... The Fishing Line presents... "How to Locate Colossal Squid". Complete with info. on how to successfully chum, drift for, or troll the Sub Antarctic Sea, using Extra-Heavy Duty electric deep sea retrieving reels... baited with fresh Patagonian Toothfish (caught early morning in the back bays), using a fish finder rig on a custom fabricated "Bleeding Bait Daiichi Hook". Wow what a concept for a video! Can I reserve one today?

We know deep sea fish use light to attract prey. I saw a Discovery channel show about the search for the elusive giant squid in the wild. One scientist's plan is to get into a one-man pressure suit and be lowered a couple thousand feet down, switch on the lights and hope to see/attract one.

Is that such a smart idea?
