With Fluke season opening on Thursday May 15, we wanted to give you time to make arrangements to sail with the right boats this season. The Fishing Line has always had the strongest sense of loyalty to our fan base and to our advertisers and 2008 is certainly no different, although this commitment and loyalty is not always a two way street when it comes to boats reciprocating this showing of "love." Therefore I'm issuing for the 5th season in a row this list of supporters that are as committed to us as we are to them.

We'll send along any new additions in the future, but this looks like the list is locked up as we are nearly sold out of advertising space for the season and we've asked EVERY boat on the Island NUMEROUS times to come on board, but to no avail...their loss for sure! Sometimes you just can't help people in spite of themselves, remarkably since it is only $40 per week to get onboard with us at The Fishing Line.

I strongly urge you to fish on these boats ONLY this season and show them the love they rightfully deserve. Those that have web sites are linked to take you there. If your favorite party boat is not listed here...ASK THEM WHY NOT! It's only $40!

Party Boats: The following Party & Charter boats are supporting The Fishing Line for 2008. I kindly and strongly ask you sail ONLY with these participating and loyal captains since it is they that allow us to bring you the daily phone reports, two web sites and two weekly radio shows!

Starting to the west is the Ocean Eagle V (718-258-4126) full day bottom fishing daily at 7 a.m. from Pier 5 in Sheepshead Bay. This is a great boat with a great family crew with brothers Greg, Glenn and Geoff. In Brooklyn off Knapp St & the Belt Parkway is the Flamingo III (718-763-8745) in Gerritsen Beach who has now switched back to bass and blues everyday at 6:30 a.m. and have started their Friday & Saturday night bass trips sailing 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

New to TFL in 2008 is the April Lynn (718-629-3615) charter boat from Mill Basin, Brooklyn with Capt. Rob Jackson. The April Lynn is a 30 foot, Seaswirl Striper series vessel. Powered with a pair of 250 hp E-Tech engines, luxuriously appointed and immaculately maintained to maximize your safety, comfort and fishing success. A few of their*fishing packages include dawn & dusk inshore trips for trophy striped bass and weakfish, Offshore sport fishing charters that target tuna, and shark or the Mixed Bag trips targeting multiple species in a single charter.

Moving into Point Lookout is the Capt. Al (516-623-2248) full day bottom fishing daily at 7 a.m. and they will start night bass fishing Friday and Saturday nights 7 p.m. to midnight soon enough. The Lady J V (516-825-5727) in Point Lookout is the premier charter boat of this area with enough size to handle 80 or more people.

In Captree the ONLY boat out of 20 boats to support us for 2008 is the ol' reliable Island Princess (631-587-6024) sailing half days at 7 a.m. and again at noon then 6 to 10 p.m. nightly for weakfish/striped bass. If you go to Captree this 2008 season we recommend the Island Princess as the ONLY boat to sail on. If you've never sailed with Capt. Nick and his family before...please try it. You will be taken care as if you're part of his family and you'll have a great time and catch fish! Clean, comfortable and the night captain brian is the best in Captree for sure!

On the North Shore in Huntington it's the Capt. James Joseph (631-424-1253) sailing full day at 7 a.m. and afternoon trips (start 4/15) 4:30 p.m. till dark for the remainder of the season. Westward in City Island covering the western Sound is the Island Current Fleet (917-417-7557) with two boats half or full day fishing and of course night bassing at 6:30 p.m. every night.

Another new supporter for TFL in 08' and also from City Island is Capt. John Jorgensen of the Riptide III sailing from the first left over the City Island Bridge at Jorgensen's Landing, “The Gateway to the Long Island Sound." The Riptide III fishes daily and offers sunset and moonlight charters. The Riptide III is safe and comfortable with a full kitchen and bar and a DJ on cruises. They are currently sailing every day full day and now running night bass trips at 6:30 p.m.

To the east in Port Jeff is the Celtic Quest (631-928-3926) with Capt. Desi O’Sullivan is back again.*You can make reservations for these trips on line with their reservation system on their web site. Also remember the newest addition last year...the Celtic Quest III, a super fast 25 foot mako center console available for private charters! Also here is the Osprey (631-331-4153) with Capt. Amanda Cash with a new boat for 2008 as well!! They will sail with the opening of the fluke season on May 15 and their schedule will be weekdays 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 till dark. On the weekends they run two half day trips at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. along with the 4:30 p.m. trips.

Further east on the North Fork of Long Island, the Peconic Star II (631- 289-6899) in Greenport is the ONLY boat from the entire North Fork to support TFL in 2008. Of course we recommend you save yourself the long drive to Orient Point and cut the driving time short by getting on the Peconic Star II for some great fluke fishing this season with safe and easy parking.

In New Jersey it's the Golden Eagle (732-681-6144) with Capt. Greg Markert sailing daily at 7:30AM - 2:30ish. Watch for night blues dates coming soon! Sailing daily 7:30 AM returning by 3:00 PM for Blues and Stripers...Come & get em! Watch for our posts or check our website for updates. On line at www.goldeneaglefishing.com. Capt Greg Markert, trained by former owner and NJ fishing icon Capt Hank Leonard brings you over 25 years of fishing experience with one of the most talented and successful crews in the business. The Golden Eagle is a 100ft custom built “Lydia” party/charter fishing vessel maintained in top condition and powered by twin Detroit 12V71 diesel engines with combined 1300 HP. She features state of the art navigation and fish finding electronics, extra wide fishing spaces at the rail with individual rod holders and bench seating around the entire vessel allowing plenty of room to rest between fish.

A 24 man bunkroom below the deck creates a comfortable place to sleep on our overnight Canyon Tuna Trips. The Golden Eagle crew is friendly and courteous, as well as trained to be among the finest in the business. From rigging to gaffing, to cleaning and filleting your catch, you will find them to out perform the rest. The Golden Eagle runs daily and nightly open boat fishing trips in season and specializes in small group, corporate and private charters as well.
