With Seabass starting to show I thought ID give you guys a few tips on culling the JUMBOS. Use a 1oz bucktail tipped with a bergall strip and bounce the bottom.Big Knuckleheads love that, also use a high - low rig and bait it with squid rings with the skin on or the tentacels, that works great.
Also Live Killies or peanut bunker work very well.Seabass like clams but LOVE meat,Usally the biggest fish will take meat over clam any day. They are aggressive fish and will eat anything. You can also jig for Seabass using a diamond jig with a teaser above it sweetened with squid strips or bergall strips. This is usally STICKY bottom fishing , so be prepared to loose a few rigs but these tricks will help cull the JUMBOS out.
White and Chartruse tails in the 1-1.5 oz work best with strips or live killies or peanut bunker will cull the big dogs.Try to cast up current so the jig hits the bottom and jig it until you get on the structure Where the seabass are.
This is some what FINESSE fishing and you need to feel the bottom and your jig, Braided line will work alot better than mono in this type of fishing.Try some of these tips and see more JUMBO SEABASS go into your cooler this year,,,joe
