Several amendments were filed at 12:00 PM on April 11, 2008. In summary, the changes are as follows:
PART VII - MINIMUM SIZES OF FISH/SHELLFISH
7.7.4-1 and 7.7.4-2 - These actions set the recreational management plan for summer flounder with a season of January 1 through December 31, a 20" minimum size, and a 7 fish bag limit. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
7.11.2-2 and 7.11.2-3 -These actions amend the commercial fishery for scup to institute an aggregate landings program in the summer beginning May 1, 2008. The amendment also sets a possession limit from 0 to 2,500 pounds in any calendar week period from May 1 through June 30. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
7.11.4-1 - This action sets the recreational management plan for scup at a 10.5 “minimum size, and a 10 fish bag limit. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
7.11.4-2 -This action sets the recreational management plan for scup with a season of May 24 through September 25 annually. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
7.11.4-3 – This action sets the recreational management plan for scup for party and charter boats with a season of June 12 through August 31, a 11 “minimum size, and a 10 fish bag limit. A late season of September 1 through October15 with a 45 fish bag limit. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
7.22.1-3 – This action amends the commercial cod regulations to allow vessels with a federal permit to harvest codfish in state waters if operating during a properly declared day-at-sea. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
PART XII – STRIPED BASS
12.3 - This action amends the commercial management plan for striped bass to allow the remaining floating fish trap quota to roll over in to the general category on November 1. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
PART XVI – MENHADEN REGULATIONS
16.1-1 - This action amends the commercial management plan for menhaden by setting a possession limit of 120,000 pounds per vessel per day. The amendment also imposes a Saturday/Sunday and holiday closure with length and depth purse seine net restrictions and call-in requirements. [This regulation becomes effective on May 1, 2008]
