Ya you gotta fish deep for the tiles, we fish the edges or shelfs of the canyon.Use a high low rig baited with squid or clam and 2-3lbs of lead.Drifting is best.well hopefully we can pull this trip off this summer . you need all the rite conditions for a trip like this.

600ft of water and 3pounds of lead...now we're talking some serious bottom fishing!!! I wish I hadn't thrown out that erector set.

Thanks Joe. I have never used an electric reel before and used to think like Surf until I started cod fishing in Mass at George's Bank. Even with
6.1 reels, it was a challenge at the end of the day.

Would have liked to go but gotta wait til I get the green light on my leg. Hope Surf hooks into an alligator and you take away his generator. Give him a 2.0 reel for me. Post his picture. That is worth six of your favorite brewskis.

Well, that'll learn me for calling Jaye a wuss. :o

If we can get in on the boat, i have a winch that I fabricated from the guts of a windmill. Talk about a set of gears!!!

Maybe I'll just tie some high-lows onto the anchor chain...

If it's a weekend and not July 5 or 12 (going lake fishing up above Lake Placid for a week this summer), you can count me in if you have an opening. Love to go deep!!!!!!!!!!!;) Never bottom fished that deep!!

Maybe we could swing by the Flemish Cap for a swordfish or two while we're there!!!!!!!:D:D

Your talkin' a 6hr steam till the first drop, yeah?

On some of the deep wrecks like the Texas tower you will get cod, pollack, big hake, seabass and possibly some wreckfish.

not as big as they used to that's for sure. Now a lot of 10's - 20's
Years ago 30 & 40's were fairly common. And they were in shallower. Friend of mine did a trip where you could use sidewinders and 10-ounces.

Hey Bill,
Just out of curiosity, could you translate the meaning of your screen name and signature please. Tis Gaelic, no?

I did see a picture of that fish on another site. What does it feel like fishing in that deep of water . What does the bite feel like. How many hooks you and what type of bait.

Just Curious

Surf, Suilleabhain is the clan O'Sullivan name from the 1100's. Translation is lost to either One-Eye, Hawk-Eye or Black-Eye. Suilleabhain was a cheiftain in the third generation after landing in Ireland from Normandy

The pic is my family coat of arms, Sullivan is one of the royal names of Irish acendency

The signature is the motto that translates to 'with a clenched fist rule" or something more PC like with a clenched fist conquer and rule with compassion.

HI Cowkiller. I was looking for some info on the proposed restrictions but could not find any (actually, most of the writing is too long to read and I stopped reading Greek in the third grade) Any links you can provide? Also I've fished only once for Tile and its painfully rewarding with manual gear (Loved it), isn't July too warm for them?
TIA

gotta wait to see what the regs will be in july, the tiles will bite all year round in the deep water,,,joe
