I don't know if this is right but my Brooklyn friends suggested that I bleed them by placing a cut on both sides of the gill and around the tail.

Sand Shark is a delicacy in lots of countries. In Britain, whenever you buy Fish and Chips, that fish is fried shark. In the Caribbean, it is served in Asian Curry meals.

In fact, if you are ever in Queens, you can check out Liberty Avenue off the Van Wyck ( Surf is not allowed to ask what I was doing there) and you will see a lot of East Indian restaurants. They are majority Guyanese. Check out their curried shark if you can handle the spicy stuff.

There are several on the south side travelling West. One is ALI's. That is from Trinidad. There is also a very good Guyanese restaurant opposite to the CITIBANK. Can't remember the name but it also has a Travel Agency. You can just order pieces of Fried Shark. They are pre-cooked and will heat them up in the Microwave for you. Or, you can ask for Curry Shark. That you can order with Rice and Peas.

In those types of Restaurants, the food is displayed in a heated case, so you can see what you are getting. Takes getting used to, but if you have travelled the Caribbean, it's BAU.

In fact, if you are into spicy foods, you are in a Heaven. Don't be perturbed by the masses of brown people. They are pretty docile!!!!

Veggie Gardening....now that is my passion!!! I used to come all the way out to Brooklyn in early Spring to get bags of their compost.......it's run by the Botanical Garden....the best. Now they have shut it down. Neighbors complaints. I may have to go all the way to Staten Island but it is worth it. I side-dressed with that all season long.
I have not tried hydrophonics but I am interested in the results if you do.

There are two types of dogfish, The spiny (winter dog) and the smooth(summer dog). The winter or spiny dog is the one that is mostly eatin. They can be identifed by the large spine that comes out of the dorsal and rear tail fin. If looking to eat, as soon as you put the fish on deck remove the head and insides and remove the bloodline in the belly. These sharks piss thru their skin so get the stomach out rite away and ice .As jay said they used these fish for fish and chips, as AURTHER TREACHERS used spiny dogs,,,joe
