When using soft bait in Spring* should I use only fresh shucked clams or is salted clams just as good?

If it is recommended to use food coloring to enrich the color of the clams* should I do the same when using conch?

Jay I will litely salt the clams* as fresh are to easy for the bergals to get off the hook. I will also add a few drops of orange food dye to them.
As for the conch straight up!!. No salt or color.Cut tem into long strips and pound them a little. Then weave it on the hook. It is very tough to get off the hook* and you can catch a few fish on one piece of bait.

Great!!! By the way* do you use conch for any other type of fishing?
What about breakaway knots for your sinker? Du you use this?

Only tog. No* on my tog rigs* but will use a breakaway sometimes when drifting for SeaBass.
