You guys asked for it so here it is...This new forum is for our members to ask their questions on a variety of fishing questions. Mostly for specific questions and our panel of experts will answer them best they can.

For the most part the other Forum Titles will dictate where you ask your questions and make your comments on our boards* but if you have a specific question you need an answer for…fire away!

Joe...what is technique called yo-yoing that is commonly used in the MA and RI commercial fisheries for large striped bass?

It is jigging. You drop a diamong jig or bucktial to the bottom* reel up one crank and lift the rod up high and let the jig drop.it is a lift up and down motion with the rod.
the other meathod is called SQUIDDING * thats when you let the jig to the bottom and reel up 15-30 turns * then put in free spool let it hit the bottom and repeat.

Yo-Yo & Squidding for bass works best in strong current while you use the boat to stem the tide over structure or bait. It even works at anchor in inlets* you drop the jig back a little further at each fall back.

Joe do you used crippled herring or norweigan jigs for cod* I was reading a article on this and it is used a lot in Mass/RI grounds or do use just bait. I was wondering if it all depends on area or condition.
