Went out about 610pm this evening just as the sun was edging towards the western horizon and tried a 6" black swimmer on alight spin outfit. Caught a short bass about 20". I had some live bunker that I netted last night that were still alive and dead sticked one on a short leash with hvy duty fluke hook, no sinker.
I had a fish on the light outfit, a small blue, when the ugly-stix started to bend and I figured it was a blue. I brought the sm blue in and immediately picked up the other rod and it felt like a bigger fish. I had the penn 965 drag set light since I was not holding it and had to tighten it down to make any difference, it was 33" bass and it boosted my spirits since I also had the Yankee game on and they were loosing big time. So I kept that fish for Sunday dinner and was back at the dock before 7pm. As I was heading for my car some folks going on the Capt Al passed by and complimented the fish and the fisherman.

Nice report Mudman... The ole' look what I found... A 33" bass!

That's what it is all about... You just never know when it's gonna happen, it just does!

Folks, unlike other message boards...we do have a 95 page website in conjuntion with this one and thefishingline.com is where we prefer to post all fishing reports.

Please send them to rjohnson@thefishingline.com and I will post them on the NJ report area which we are trying to build up to the same standards and accuracy we already have for the NY side. Thanks
