Even though human nature is in a state of disarray, nature is falling into place. Last night there was an enormous isopod hatch in Moriches and tonight I found 1 1/2-inch juvenile herring. Haven't found glass eels yet.

The last few years we've had warm winters. And when the stripers came thru in the early spring there wasn't much sandeels around. So the stripers didn't stay long and continued there journey further north where the sandeel population was big. They had great fishing up there. Now finally we had a nice snowy and cold winter just like we used to have. Everything is falling into place. According to my fishing journals we will have a great spring striper season this year. Stripers will stay around a lot longer than prior years where we had warm winters. There will be lots of sandeels around to hold them here. The striper fishing will be tremendous especially for the flyrodder.
