Just a quick intro to all on this mesage board. I am Capt. Greg Markert of the Golden Eagle Party/Charter Fishing Vessel in Belmar NJ.
It will be a pleasure to be able to chat with you all through this board and perhaps get the chance to meet you and/or have you aboard.
I am pleased to be part of such a professionally run web site and fishing forum.
Best to all & tight lines
Capt Greg

Welcome Capt!

I live on Long Island* can you estimate how long it may take me without traffic to get to your boat from Kennedy Airport.

Thanks!

I live on Long Island also and plan to check out this boat. From JFK it is approx. 61 miles. It will take about an hour depending upon traffic and the amount of lead in your feet.

From LI around the AP* it should take (without traffic) 1.5 hrs.
we have a pretty good following from your area* especially with our Tuna Trips.
Love to get some of you guys from LI aboard.

Hey Capt. Greg* any chance of some more magic hour ling trips this winter or spring? After the bass thin out* will macks or bottom species be on the agenda or do you plan on taking a winter break? Thanks for the reply.

Also* for Long Islanders who have never fished in that area of NJ* it usually takes me 1 hour and 40 minutes from Hauppauge to Pt. Pleasant (almost the same distance as Belmar) in the morning* but coming back you can add 30+ minutes to that ride in the afternoon and evening. Hence* that is why I show interest in Magic Hours trips. I like to stick around* fish more* and go home later at night to avoid the traffic.

If the Macks make a decent appearance this winter we will be there! The Magic hour trips dont draw like they used to* so I doubt we will go that way. Macks will be the target if we have a shot at them this season.
We are going to dry dock for Maint. & USCG hull inspection on the 17th of Dec and expect to be back between the sticks by the new year. We will see what is happening and go from there. I will keep you all posted on the schedule here and on the website.

If the commercial guys dont decimate the Mack schools we may have a shot this winter.

Capt you must excuse this question but I am not a Mack fisherman...at least not yet. I assume you are discussing deep sea fishing. Are we talking Spanish Macks or Kings?

The Macks we are talking about are Atlantic Mackeral* sometimes refered to as Boston Mackeral. Fun to catch when they are running good as you can catch 3-5 at a time on the proper Mack Rig.
Fresh Macks are good to eat as well* cooked quite a few different ways. Freeze them for Bait in the summer too.

Usually in a "Normal Year" they should be showing up now and be around thru Jan. Havent had a good run in the winter for a few years. April they come back thru...Hopefully!

We are going to the yard on Dec 14th now as our USCG inspection date has changed* so we will not be sailing now until after New Years. We may decide to take Jan-March off to do a few projects. I will let everyone know.
