Just wanted to make mention of all the so called surf fisherman on the beach at Demo &Sore thumb last year. There were times I went to fish and had to wait for the frisbee thrower/kite flying/sunbathing crowd to get out. What happened to the Law. Are they only interested in breaking the chops of the true fisherman?

How about 11 pm 2 guys riding mini bikes up and down the Jones Beach Fishing Piers and all over the parking lot (yes the entrance booth was manned). We went to the guy in the booth to ask him what he was going to do about it, (they have radios) he said he couldn't do anything because he just came on???

Late last fall I watched 2 Park Cops ride into the new lot at the construction dock area. Night permit is supposed to be a requirement for this area, day or night. Cops pulled slowly into lot, turned around and left. Eight cars in lot, 2 passes in windows.
I guess they were looking for the donut shop and took a wrong turn (or maybe somewhere to take a nap)?

While fishing a back bay spot last summer at about 11 pm on the bay side of Jones, someone stopped on the road and pegged 4 shots into the woods in very close proximity to where we were fishing. Scared the crap out of us.

The prices go up, the enforcement stinks. Seems they never check passes or have the booths manned on concert nights. Last year the summer was easy, they didn't start checking passes at Jones until the end of September. If you were in before the guy got to the booth, you were safe. No one ever checked the lots.

Steve - Of course they check the lots. Try going into RM5 before sunrise (or a similar place not listed on the permit). Odds are a cop will be right on you before you get your first wader boot on. But confront non-permit holders or flagrant abusers, no. :!:

I know everyone always gripes that they think cops/enforcement isn't doing enought. However, it would seem to this angler that, espiecially over the last 2-3 seasons, there is a systematic lack of enforcement in places well known for abuse while at the same time an over zelous enforcement of bonafide anglers in the off-season (or off-times) when no one and nothing is being hurt. I don't get it.
