In a conversation with a group of fishing buddies last night the following statements were made: #1 The new rules for stripers is 2 fish @ 28in.
5/15 thru 12/15. #2 Fluke, 7 fish @ 17in. No closed season. #3 A permit for shark similiar to the angling permit for tuna. Has anyone else heard about these new rules?
Not true. True and not true. Accorind to a ocnverstion I had with Byron Young of the DEC, there will be no movement on the two per day bass reg's till 2004 despite the fact the comm's got their incerase right away.
Fluke is staying at 7/17" wiht no closed seaosn...once they determine when it wil open.
No one has heard anything about shark permits although they are trying to get this done in the future in line wiht what wiht the tuna $25 permits, but this is a federal issue and nothing to do with the states.

If there is no closed season, isn't it already open?

;)
No because it has to go through legislation so in reality the opening of the season is still covered under last year's reg's which I think is May 2

Thanks for the responce Rich. By the way, Saturday while suffering from cabin fever and honey do,s I came across an untitled VHS tape. I put it in the VCR and preceded to watch your shark trip with Nick M. It put a little sunshine in a gloomy day.
