View Full Version : Free Fishing Trip Policy About To Change
I am getting a kick out of the people vieweing and signing on now looking to get on the free trips* that were already registered....some as far back as 2002.
They signed up to the boards back then and have made "0" to few posts. Some only have one posting in 5 years* some none...now they hear about free trips from others not even here...because they don't visit..and are trying to add their names to the list...well how about that?" as Mell Allen used to say...
So I would suggest folks get a busy using our boards for fishing reports* fishing questions etc because we are going to start a "minimum posts" requirement in order to sail on these trips starting with trip #4.
What does this mean? let me explain...
When I announce Free Trip #4 sometime this week..it is going to be based on a minimum postings number I will decide...such as perhaps 25 posts. This means anyone signing up for the free trip would have to have a mimium of 25 postings on these boards....at the time they sign up. If not I will remove their name from the list.
It is easy to see because when you view someone's profile it tells you the number of posts they have made since they joined...look at any member's profile and you'll what I mean.
So get busy and start having fun...

hey rich when cutting and pasting i always seem to select the wrong list. can you help me out with selecting the right list to select. I am computer literate but i cant seen to get this consept of threads vs e-mail
The very last list is the accurate one...if you "view latest post" the list just prior to that is the one...

Hey Rich*
Is there a way to know when someone reads the posts?
Because* one dosn't post doesn't mean they are not using the site and reading all the wonderful information

RJ...nice idea. I know that I just found out about the site (the free trips definately lured me in) but I am already getting some good information and it got me out fishing after thinking about it for several years! So it is a good thing!

So it is a good thing!
Yes it is.....
Thanks for the tip RJ
we made the last trip on the charter boat i work on on halloween. fished 3 known bluefin spots with one runoff and one dogfish caught. draggers were close at last spot when we left. we were 15 to 20 miles sse mtk. its time to start toggin.
Thats got to be a tough commute from the bronx to montauk with the price of gas and all has got to be a labor of love to do it
This thread was not rteally put up for postings but just to make you folks aware...no need to post on this anymore:D

new to boards . typing skills poor* but will try to get to 25
Here Is My Problem....
If you remember I posted a week or two back about the Free Trip Policy about to change...my problem for example...and I am not singling you out GeorgeK ..BUT here it is...
For example...George...you signed up for two trips and have been a member since October 15...three weeks now...and you have 7 posts total and all I believe are related only to the trips you signed up for....
you folks have got to do better than this..
Sure I set myself up for it by offering these trips to my fans...but come on folks...Quest4 Blue has already surpassed you by a wide margin and he's only been here a week wiht substantive posts on various subjects...
perhaps I should just let the top 25 posters on board??? I expect better than lurkers and freeloaders only posting when they want something....or to get on these tirps...

I do not have that many* and I have been on this sight since last year. I only figured out how to registar recently.
I have met Rich many times and sat in on a few seminars and also fished near him after meeting him in one of the parking lots at Robert Moses.
I do not think anyone should have too meet minimum requirements* many new guys just don't post and fishing on a boat with Rich and other experienced guys on this site will just improve interation on this site*
just my two cents.
Tight lines to all
:)

You may have fallen in to the glitch we had where 260 people either were not smart enough to tell the comuter they were over 13* or not paying attention to confirming their account with an e mail or a glitch in the system that took some* not all of you* to another area waiting moderation...either way I expect you folks to contribute here whether you have a boat or not...

RJ* I have watching your site for many years! and I never new I could post a report on it? I always check out your site a couple of times a week* because I know you are the one who always knows what's going on!!
for example; a couple of years ago I was telling everybody about the change in the fluke regs.* they didn't believe me until I told them were I got it from (your site). then I made the "MISTAKE" by posting it on another site. that site jumped all over me for mentioning "THE FISHING LINE"* and for a couple of weeks i was getting about ten emails a day from them with the same message* telling me that i was not allowed to mention another site.:!: Now i think i know to go to forum and post* which i will be doing. sorry RJ* that all i have bin doing is reading on your site* and watching your shows.

I've been around for a couple years. Listen to the radio show every Sat unless I'm tied up. The info here is priceless. RJ is not only a great outdoorsman but has me laughing out loud. I rarely post* would love to go fishing with anyone but my schedule is tight. Now I'm feeling guilty* like I'm using something I shouldn't. What gives?
We just want to see some action and activity here so we know all you listeners out there are out there...
I appreciate you folks that support us* but as you know the .com site isn't interacive.
These boards show the activity and following we have...and it's always nice to hear from you folks either with calls to the radio show or seeing you making new friends here on the boards or getting your quesitons answered by me or the other smart anglers here.:)

I am a new member to TFL but like anything else you don’t get something for nothing in this world. In my opinion RJ is right for requiring us make a few posts* especially in a sport of fishing that we truly love* it takes a little time and effort to ask or pass on info about our sport that we all may benefit from.
P.S. like I said a little time and effort* not one or two word posts to get your numbers up!
