Free Trip #3: Worming Stripers Capt. James Joseph

The next trip is set for sandwormng stripers out of Huntington on the Capt. James Joseph. We filmed this for the old TV show 12 years and ago and all rods were bent at all times and I MIGHT be filming this one again for the 2008 season. Last time we fished both sides of the boat and I actually won the pool with a 25 pounder…this time we are limiting the fishing to 25 people only!

The trip is tentatively set for Monday afternoon October 29th at 4:30 p.m. returning at 10 p.m. The boat usually getd $50 a head…you lucky 25 people get to fish or FREE. Same rules apply as to the other tips as we try to get as many people fishing as we can. Good Luck and sign up now!! Minimum age is 16 years of age...NO EXCEPTIONS

1. When I went to bed the other night...because of the confusion I copied the shorter list instead of the longer list I had two posts earlier....nevertheless that is not where the problem or real confusion lies...any way:

1. I had to go back and follow the posting history of this thread and had to hand write the history and names in the order they posted...

2. Oyster Bay Al added paplou's name even though paplou has yet to post anything on these boards and in particular this thread.

3. Victor totally screwed this up and had names in the wrong order thus changing the boarding order for the trip AND took names completely off the list....that are now back on in their correct order

This is what I have so far:
1. papa lou...disqualified...never posted his own name
2. Oyster Bay Al..disqualified...posted someone else's name
3. If you two want in again then you have to repost but this means you lost your order of boarding...be thankful you both are not OUT to let others in your place...
4. Victor...you should be glad I am in a good mood because the Giant won big today...even if the Sox are winning

You should know that typing in all capital letters is considered Shouting on the internet and is hard to read.

They rig you up in the tirp with their rigs* but you can bring 3x3 rigs

Now you folks know if you do get to go standy because an openig occured that does preclude you from doing another trip...

On the trip aboard the Island Cuurent Wednesday we had a situation...I made a comment about the tipping on today's trip (10/24) and was sent an e mail about my comments on the tips...

We had 15 people on the trip...I am NOT going name names and I am NOT asking for anyone to post what they tipped...if I see it I will remove it...but..one couple gave them $50 and another couple gave them $20...

that means 11 other people tipped a total of $100...that is a disgrace...that is less than $10 per person and uncalled for...:confused: :rolleyes:

The service was fantastic...the rigs and gaffs were always at the ready and the bait fresh and plentiful...I will not accept this sort of penny pinching on any of these trips again...

from this point forward the minimum tip on these trips is $10 and if you have any fish cleaned...you better up the ante...$15 might be the suggested number

If you are not preapred to take care fo the staff...then take you name off the list on future trips and stay home....

I don't think that is too much to ask when you have top notch service and even if you are "self sufficient" because you are a pro (in your own mind)...you are receiving a FREE trip for doing nothing more than joining a message board.

I find it hard to believe that some people don't know how to tip the mates !! I have only been on a party boat about ten times* because my brother has his own boat. but I remember the first time i went* and how nice i was treated by the mates. they were right there every time i had a fish on* netting the fish for me. but what i was so happy about* is how they came around on the way in and asked who wanted their fish cleaned. "wow" the work they saved me. I was more then happy to throw them a twenty. and that was about 30 years ago.
for all you guys going on these trips* "tipping" is a good tip !! these guys work hard.

If you are NOT on the Osprey trip then you are eligible for the Capt. James worming trip* so go ahead put yourself on stand by list and see what happens..

as of now the trip list for he Worming trip stands as is...sold out with the stand by list now at 10.

If I understand what you're asking and I am not sure I do....you were on the Osprey list as a go and BEB was on the Osprey list as a go....

when the James trip started* those that may have been signed on to the stand by list (James) that were going on the Osprey trip such as you and BEB as definitely going (before the date change) were eitehr knocked off or back in favor of those that were not signed up for any trips previous to the James trip.

I am not going to change nor should I change the James worming list becaus eth edate fo the Osprey trip was changed and you can no longer go..sorry..

with the change of the James trip's date some have dropped out and others have moved up..but that's the way the cookie crumbles as my dad always said...:)

I went on a James Joseph worming trip a few years ago* it was great* many bass on every drift (of course only keeping our limit). My favorite part was Capt Jim would countdown when the hits would start. "OK Guys 5-4-3-2-1- FISH ON!" Unfortunately never got around to going again.

I had a similar problem and don't like weekends on party boats* too crowded. What I do now is go on night trips (6:30P-12M) during the week. Boat is less crowded and I don't have to take a day off. Just a little tired (but happy) the next day at work. (Only good for blues and strpers though)

my guess is since its a party/charter boat most supplies ie...pole* bait *tackle are supplied * but i could be wrong since ive also never wormed for striped bass. i would wait for rj to respond before you go an change any of your gear because it might not be necessary if they do supply it. cant wait 8 and a wake up.:D

you can fish with your gear if you want...I think they give you the rods and bait to use* especially ona chartered trip like mine...I use 20 to 25 pound test for my outfits when worming.

The James Joseph worming trip has been postponed and pushed back to a date to be announced; due to a family medical situation in the Schneider family…this is all I am at liberty to say right now until the family gives me the word*

Please bear with us and we’ll see if we can squeeze it in this month….There is no shortage of fish in this area as there are acres of bass and blues on top so worming at night is a great catch. We’ll keep you posted.

The Fishing Line sends our deepest condolences to captains Jimmy and Joe Schneider and the entire families on the passing Elizabeth Schneider* age 35* wife of Jimmy’s brother Capt. Joe Schneider* who finally succumbed to cancer after a 6-year battle.

The wake is Monday 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Jacobson’s Funeral Home on the corner of Pulaski and Rte 110. The funeral will be Tuesday morning. The James Joseph worming trip with The Fishing Line for this Monday (11/12) has been postponed and pushed back to a date to be announced.
