Santa was generous & I got a Cobra Navigator. Looking for launch sites for both North & South shores. Live in Ridge (Brookhaven) by Lake Panomoka (have access) but love the salt with a fly. Will take any tips on anywhere from Smithtown to Orient and south.
If you need company* let me know.

I wonder if you normally anker while kayak fishing or do you drift? And usually people who kayak fish normally lure instead of bait fish right?

Depends on what I going for. In lakes* I anchor* especially if windy. Also in rivers* depending on wind & flow direction. I use a 3 lb. anchor from one of the popular catalogues that has a 25 ft. line. For something like Bonita* that is constantly moving* you can't use one. I flyfish* so I can be constantly moving at times and I keep a box of flies close at hand. Haven't used any spinning or baitcasting yet* maybe next year.

Can imagine how hard it is to multi-task the kayak along with fishing... but I can also image how fun it would be to hit a school of blues or any lured fish for that matter. If you do try baiting and luring with a kayak let me know how that goes.
Tight lines.

After the first couple of outings* it becomes easier. Really don't want to mess around with bait* but will try a lure next season. Still need a couple of items to make the going safer. You'll find that when the conditions are right* you can get the fish were you normally say"if I could just get a little further out".

You have to watch the tides at Norman Levy* bottom two hours of the tide* there's no water at the launch* you could end up waiting to launch or waiting to unlaunch.
Also about a 15 minute paddle to Merrick Bay* but can be very productive water there.
