COD FISH CARL

I went out of Captree Thursday with my wife. She only goes out maybe 3 or 4 times a year. The boat had only maybe 10 customers. So the mate was fishing also some of the crew. The mate caught 2 keepers one of the other crew caught what I would consider two doormats. Meanwhile the customers didn't catch anything until the last minute then one person caught a questionable keeper. My wife doesn't want to fish anymore and I'm thinking of fishing only on piers. Am I over reacting???
Yes...many times with only 10 peolle* even though two mates show up for work...only one works while the other sails just for the heck of it....
He just happened to catch two keepers and mates are usually better fishermen than 90% of the customers...odds are you weren't going to catch those fish anyway...it's luck and skill...all at the same time...

you always have the option of asking the captain to not let the mates fish.
Many times that I have been out where the mates fished* they gave their catch to some of the people that didn't catch anything. If someone is attending to the needs of the customers* then I see nothing wrong with them fishing.

I feel bad for the mates* all that time on the water and no time to fish. If everyone's needs are taken care of* it shouln't be a problem. How many times have you been on a partyboat when the lady from Detroit who's never been fishing before wins the pool ?

Many times I have seen a mate fish* hook up and then pass the rod over to a rookie. This is one sure way of landing a customer that otherwise may not return.
99% of the time* mates are doing there job and earning there keep. I see nothing wrong with the situation descirbed above.
