With all the talk about war in the middle east and the control over our oil-we can make a difference by bycotting Arab GAS-Here's How

We CAN buy gasoline that's not from Middle East. Why didn't George W. think of this? Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled
about it. It might even be good for us!
The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the favor.
An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the
car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just
buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up the
tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my
family, and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00 ? 8/31/01):

>Shell............................205,742,000 barrels
>Chevron/Texaco.........144,332,000 barrels
>Exxon /Mobil................130,082,000 barrels
>Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000 barrels
>Amoco.........................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

>Citgo....................0 barrels
>Sunoco............. ..0 barrels
>Conoco............. ..0 barrels
>Sinclair............... 0 barrels
>BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels
>Hess...................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and
each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing. They report on a monthly basis. Keep this list in your car; share
it with friends. Stop paying for terrorism.............

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.
It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out at this point...keep
reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to
at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten
more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the
sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION
consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level
further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How much would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day all 300

MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next eight day.

Worth a try???:!:

Good idea, but we would be hurting our friends as well as our enemies. We can not possibly hope to beat the terrorists unless we get the full co-operation of the arab nations not engaged in terrorism.
We can't even make a strike without first setting up bases in friendly Arab states. Not that I am in favor of war, but lets face it if we go to war, Lets not alienate the entire Muslim world.
I would however be for a gradual change to using our own resources such as Alaska oil, offshore oil, nuclear energy, and wind power.
If we had used the technology that we have had for many years, we might not be in the situation of dependecy we are in today.
Its not to late to begin an effort towards energy self sufficiency, which ultimately could save many dollars and American lives as well.
Maybe thats what Bush should be focusing on instead of Iraq.

I just scrapped about 15 ranting paragraphs about this subject (God I hate to talk politics) ..... Now that my meds have kicked in, let me just say:
We have no friends in the middle east, period. Those that are friendly are friendly because they need us for something, period. That need may be protection, cash, food, trade ( for oil) whatever, but none of them are with us because they love us.
Terrorism is funded by and large by oil money. The whole oil industry is funded by our (the good old USA's) dependency on that oil, so pick off the cover and whatta ya got? Our money paying for terrorists to screw with us.
The US probably uses as much oil as the rest of the world combined (I've got no numbers to substantiate that, but I'll bet I'm not terribly far off base).
Reduce our depency on oil, starve the oil producing economies
and there will be no funds for terrorism, period. And thus no need to be "friendly" with those that would as soon slit our throats.
Getting to the point of this whole thread: Are the posted numbers valid or just more Internet Hogwash? I know I saw this email about 3 or 4 years ago so I'm suspect. Personally I think I'd believe one of those 'friendly arabs' before I'd believe 95% of the crap on the internet.
If they are valid, you can bet I'll hunt down a Sunoco station EVERY time I buy gas.

You know if you check the price of gas lately -it's through the roof-We are getting screwed by our own oil companys.This scenerio has been played out through the years every time there is a crisis in the middle east. the amt. of gas in the supply line is the same as lets say 6 mos. ago but the prices continue to rise because the oil companys see the tension in the middle east as a wedge to fool and screw the public.By boycotting certain oil companys we can show them that WE WON'T TAKE IT ANY MORE!!-those bastards would lower the prices pronto if this happened and would scare the Arabs shi...er oiless:}

Those of you who remember the rationing of the 80's should realize that WE have lost 20 years to do something REAL about it. WE had better get out collective act together this time.

The 80's saw us caught short in almost every aspect of energy conservation, from home heating to auto fuel. At least the home building industry has continued to make advances in insulation and efficient heating and cooling equipment.

While the auto industry got caught sleeping, the Japanese and European autos sold like hotcakes because of their efficiency. US automakers responded way too slowly but eventually got their act together.

By the 90's it seemed as if everyone of us forgot about the gas lines and fuel economy, Detroit and Big Oil are cashing in on trucks and SUV's which are not held to the same fuel efficiency standards as cars, and WE can't get enough of them. How many MPG's does your SUV get?

History is now repeating itself. Maybe once and for all there will be a concerted effort by this country to develop and market alternative fuels, particularly hydrogen fuel cell technology so we can get this Arabian monkey off our back. Let them keep their precious oil so they can drive their Rolls Royces around in the desert!!

Surf-

Excellent reply -yeah,Unfortunately I remember those looong gas lines and yes-we gorgot all about that crap. But I'll tell you-I believe OUR oil companies are part of the problem with secret deals in the mideast and price gouging

And don't forget our own government agencies. A large part of the price at the pump is actually TAXES.

I don't know about the list at the start of the thread, but if there were one day where NOBODY bought gas, it would scare the [censored] out of the oil companies and the oil producing nations.
The technology exisits for cars AND trucks to get 100+ MPG and for the vehicles to last longer.
Detriot and the oil companies don't want that.
They want our money. They don't care about the environment or terrorism. Money is ALL they care about.
I say [censored] them all.

Iky:

There's no doubt in my mind who really holds all the cards in this great land of ours - Big Oil. To make matters worse, we put two oil men into office!! Anybody wonder where their best intersests lay? It's no secret that they want to open up the North Slope of the Artic Wildlife Refuge in AK for drilling. While few of us will ever make the trek to see this pristine wilderness, this business in the Middle East is going to give Big Oil more leverage to suck crude out of the ground there, pipe it south, and put it onto tankers like the Exxon Valdez. I've heard this oil doesn't even make it to our gas pumps, but goes straight to Japan where it can be sold for greater profits!

Big Oil has got us by the throat (or by some other part of the anatomy south of the zipper). We'll see hydrogen fuel cells only when they can figure out a way to how to make big money from this technology, and not one minute sooner.

Where does BJ's get it's gas from? This is the only place I buy fuel now.

You want to do something, then enlist. I did, I flew 46 cargo missions into Saudi Arabia and other area's during Desert Storm. We were ****-haulers if it could fit in the back of the aircraft, we carried it. I did this for 28yrs both active/reserve and I retired in '95 and I'd gladly do it again if they'll let me, but they won't.
