this sounds like a great trip. i will know very soon whether i will be free that day. it is too close to election day and i may be doing some last minute campaigning for my good friend, matt pachman, running for district court in smithtown, as well as senator john flanagan and assemblyman mike fitzpatrick. politics has ruined my blackfishing the last two years.

Pool is now $950
11 spots still left and deposits are still coming.
This Sunday’s Blackfish trip is looking really good. So far we have around twenty six fisherman so the pool is a large one. Someone is going to walk off on Sunday with a big smile on their face for sure.
Just note a few rules to the pool:
All bait used in fishing that day must be supplied by the boat. There will be green crabs and possibly clams.
The order of boarding the boat will be in the order of reservation. You will be called to pick your fishing position starting at 7am that morning. When you are called you will board the boat and select your spot. You must fish that spot for the day. No mugging will be permitted.
You may use your own tackle if you chose but only single hook rigs will be allowed with one rod in water at a time.
The pool winner will be the largest blackfish caught at the end of the days fishing. Blackfish are the only species in the pool.
There is only one prize for the largest fish. Winner takes all.
In any case of discrepancy the Captain will have the final say in any decision.
Don’t forget to dress warm for cool weather and bring a rain jacket just in case. Bring some food and drink for lunch in a cooler which you can use later to bring home your catch.
If you have any other questions you can contact me via email and I will be happy to answer them.
Looking forward to a great day of fishing with all of you.
Michael

have a great time tomorrow, guys. this sounds like a great trip and i'm sorry i couldn't clear my schedule to make it. judging by the reports and what i've been hearing, the winner will take home a nice 10 pounder and there will be many who limit out. have a blast!!
Have a good time...my band is playing tonight till 1 a.m. so being over 50 no way I can go straight to the boat like I did 20 years ago.
Bring extra lead...full moon on Sunday...make sure we see some pics here!
Anyone interested in the last spot let me know.
The pool is now $1450.00
The weather should be perfect.
Osprey III headed out at 7:30 am yesterday for Togfest 06. Weather conditions were perfect. Cold, but hardly any wind. Tide conditions were not optimal, due strong full moon tide. Water temp was 58 degrees. The Capt. decided that due to the previous days catch he would take a long ride off some structure northeast, toward New Haven. It was a long ride out but he wanted to hit a homerun. Got there it was slack and no current. As time went by, and with a couple of anchor adjustments, it was apparent that it was going to be a tough day. There were a few fish picked by the third drop and we anchored over a small pile of rocky bottom and only one part of the boat saw some steady action for about a 45 minutes. About a dozen fish were boated on that drop with some real decent size fish. Then decided after the bite slowed down to move to some bigger structures where everyone would have a shot a good bottom. There was a slow pick for the rest of the day with a tog coming over the rail every once in a while. There was one schoolie striper caught and returned. About a half dozen fish were clearly over 6lbs with the big pool went to an 8lb+ fish caught by Chris Theodorellis of Hauppauge. Right behind Chris was Andy “Sidewinder” Valenti who also was clearly high hook with several nice size fish. All in all it was a fun day although the bite could have been a little better, but not for lack of trying. The fishermen were a real good group and I would love to fish with any of these guys again. The captain whose name was James really gave it his all and the mates were there with a net, untangle a line, and tie a new rig on right away. Thank you everyone.
Michael
Here are some pics for the day.
Nice pic Mike...but they were supposed to be NO bigger than 600 pix on any side...many of these are 680 or 640...thanks
