Efforts to help cure hunger in New York State kick off and it looks to be another great year. Mark you calendars „Ÿ August 14th „Ÿ when Deer Management Permits (DMP's) and licenses go on sale at all DECALS (Dept. Environmental Conservation Automated License System) outlets. Instant lottery DMP's will be available August 14th- October 1st 2006.
A very high percentage of NY's Sportsmen and women will get their licenses NOW. These same sportsmen and women are also helping to cure hunger by donating a dollar or more when they buy their deer hunting licenses. Not just sportsmen but ANYONE can ANYTIME, ANYWHERE licenses are sold. Just tell you town clerk or local sporting goods dealer you want to support Venison Donation.
Since 2000, the Venison Donation Coalition has coordinated programs throughout 50 counties in New York. Over 225 tons of nutritious ground venison has been distributed by Second Harvest Food Banks to local pantries and soup kitchens in your communities. Their Feed Four with a "Buck" campaign says it all. Every dollar gathered feeds four people by helping to pay for the meat processing costs. The Venison Donation Coalition expects the 2006 season will surpass the 2 MILLION servings mark.
This has only been possible because of the generosity of the many sportsmen and women who have donated their dollars and deer. A most sincere
?gThank You?h to all of you for making this program a success.
The Venison Donation Programs throughout New York wishes to challenge ALL license buyers and ALL citizens to help cure hunger this year by stepping up to any DECALS outlet and asking to support Venison Donation with a dollar or more.
