The past two days I fished from Demo down to Point Lookout. All I have to show for it is a couple of small blues. Where are the big bass?
I don't know. It has been very weird. Everytimne we get a slight cold snap, the weather goes back to August. I have always felt the migration consited of a few things. Temperature, water temperature, sun angle and hours of daylight in each day (shorter as seaosn progresses.)
So far I dont' know what to think. Water temps at the Ambrose Tower are still 70.2 degrees. I know Mark Gross at Sunrise B&T in Lindenhgurst is still fishing at night in his summer pattern and seems to be finding fish one day, then just small blues the next. I am still looking for the weakfish o run out of the inlet so I can be lazy and jig them from the boat. I have not seen bait in a day or two in the surf line.

September's have been growing warmer for several years. It isn't until late October do things cool down dramatically.
FWIW, I was out at Demo last night soaking bunker for a couple of hours. Just a few light taps, probably small blues. Did see some good beach structure along the RM side. Hope it lasts until later in the fall.

Just heard from my friend in Fair Harbor Fire Island and he too is wondering where the fall stripers are. He hasn't had much success on tins last weekend and claims that only sea robbins around. He'll try agin this weeknd. Fireislandsudsman

I'm planning to be in the Moriches/Smith Pt area this weekend. Hopefully I can find a few fish.
