OK fluke season is gone and i have left over squid in the freezer along with some baby peanut bunkers. Could i leave them frozen till next year?

use them for bluefish or chumming bonito and albacore shoulld you see them or feed the cat. Get fresh bait next season and get rid of what you have.

I like to use the cat as bait,
On the frozen subject...how mant time could you refreeze squid during the season? An old timer at a B&T told me numerous time, is this true?

Personally, I'm not fond of using thawed and refrozen bait. Frozen is bad enough (compared to fresh). While squid probably will hold up well to refreezing I'd use it only as a backup if you can't find any other bait.

Squid is just about the only bait i will refreeze and use even to next season, though i don't recommend it.However the key to this to use Kosher salt (not table salt!!) and salt that squid down before freezing:eek:

I use salt on clams, then freeze them the day before fishing and BOOM they work great. Stays on the hook and doesn't seem to bother the fish. I cut the squids into strips but i have never used salt on them. Am going to use the squid this week and chum the rest. I need to make room for Hunting season. My wife already blames me on monopolizing the fridge.:D

Kosher Salt on the squid keeps them tough and forever young.
